We Did a Thing

The thing is called a 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. And we did it.

We are now truck people, and I'm not even sad about it. Or mad about it. If we're going to keep rhyming, I'm actually glad about it.

What's even more shocking? My anti-truck, foreign-born, foreign-bred husband . . . loves it. He swore up and down when he moved here from England that he would never own a truck. It was too American. Well guess what, mothertrucker? Your transformation is now complete.

Here she is. I'm saying "she", but husband has deemed it Yomper. Long story short, a yomp is a long and arduous trek Royal Marines do. Daniel's IG handle is @yompingroyal. You see where this is going.

Yomper the Truck

We don't do things half-assed. If we do it, it's with the whole entire ass. Which is why we didn't end up with your run-of-the-mill Tundra. No way. TRD Pro and in this Zoolander so-hot-right-now-worthy Army Green. Because if you're going to do it, then do it. Kind of like my dual hand tattoos or neon red hair. Why be subtle? It's just not the American way.

First Day with Yomper

Up next: We ordered a Leer 100XR Truck Cap to go on the bed. We also looked at A.R.E. truck caps, but if we're honest, it came down to the fact that the wait time on Leer was 3 weeks while A.R.E. was 6 weeks and well . . . we're impatient. Cap should be here in a couple weeks, and thank god . . . because right now we're squeezing a Great Dane and English Bulldog into the back seat along with our three-year-old daughter. This thing is roomy, but that's pushing it. Cap will be color-matched in Army Green and this thing will be a glorious TANK.

Our full plan is to get the cap THEN add Front Runner Slimline II Roof Rack so that we can ultimately toss an iKamper Skycamp 2.0 Rooftop Tent and have our own rolling compound. Doggos sleep in the bed. Humans sleep on the roof. Hopefully everyone stays safe from grizzlies. Win-win.

Updates on the build as it progresses!

Driving Lexus GS350 F Sport to Trade In
Driving Tundra Home

Here's what our vehicle stable looked like before the swap -- Lexus GS350 F Sport and a Mazda CX-9. Traded in the Lexus and the lease on the Mazda was up, so now we're down to a single-vehicle fam to make the trek up to Alaska.

BONUS: Damn, this CrewMax cab is big. Big enough to not constantly feel your seat getting kicked by the child. Which probably just saved a giant meltdown (by me) during the upcoming 70 hours together in the car. So essentially, this vehicle was a mental health purchase.
